I learned this tip the hard (and expensive) way: Never, ever (ever) spray a hot oven door. We have all been there. You put your challahs into the preheated oven and notice a small spill or smudge on the inside of the door’s glass. You grab some Windex or 409 glass cleaner and…CRACK. Yes, that is tempered glass. No, that does not guarantee that your hot oven glass won’t crack when the cooler glass cleaner hits it. A few hundred dollars later, I learned to double-check that the oven door is perfectly clean BEFORE I preheat, and if I need to clean a small spill, I let the oven cool before attempting any cleaning touch-ups.
