Challah Baking Tip #17 Peek Before You Preheat!

Speaking of ovens. Make sure to ALWAYS open the oven door and check inside before preheating. You never know what you may have stashed in there and forgotten, (a Tupperware from Shabbos perhaps, or those gum lollies you were hiding from the kids...I speak from experience here). All clear? Preheat. Then bake for about half the time called for in your recipe, rotate your trays, switch shelves & continue baking for the rest of the required time.
